Forging process of hydraulic cylinder forgings

The forging hydraulic cylinder is a mechanical device mainly used to achieve linear motion and rotation. The hydraulic cylinder forgings are widely used in metallurgical machinery, military machinery, marine machinery, water conservancy machinery and other fields. Forging technology is an important step in the processing of hydraulic cylinder forgings. Forging is a process that utilizes the deformation properties of metal to deform metal blanks through processing technology. This article will introduce the processing principles of hydraulic cylinder forgings.

Forging process:
Forgings of hydraulic cylinders are parts that are gradually formed through processing of metal blanks. Generally speaking, the forging processing process of hydraulic cylinders includes the following three stages:
1. Preheat the forging blank
2. Forging and molding
3. Heat treatment
During the processing, each stage is closely connected. Whether it is process temperature, pressure, or mechanical processing methods, there are strict requirement, to ensure that the forgings of hydraulic cylinders can meet the needs of production applications.

The principle of forging
In the forging processing of hydraulic cylinders, the most important part is the forging forming. In forging, the strain energy density generated by the deformation of the metal blank is very high, so it has the characteristics of high strength and high hardness. In the hydraulic cylinder forging process, the open die forging process is mainly used:
The open die forging process is a forging method that can be open diely deformed according to shape, size, design requirements, etc. The open die forging process is simple and can quickly produce parts. In open die forging, the shape of the forging is determined by the stress characteristics of the die and the metal blank.

Brief description of forging equipment:
Hydraulic cylinder forgings are large forgings and require the use of a large open die forging hydraulic press. Our company uses a 4,000-ton open die forging press and a 30-ton forging manipulator for forging production of hydraulic cylinder forgings. The specific process is as follows:
Use martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel as the steel forging material, select a square ingot, heat it to 1180°C, and cut it along the length of the ingot to obtain a octagonal section billet. The forging ratio is 2.0~2.2. The octagonal section billet is heated to 1040°C and kept warm. 360 minutes, cool the oil to below 32°C, take the middle section as the blank, carry out axial upsetting of the blank at the initial forging temperature of 1150°C and the final forging temperature of 990°C. When the upsetting reaches half the height of the original blank, the blank after upsetting is Carry out the original axial cross-section elongation in all directions, and then perform axial upsetting when the length of the original blank is reached. When the upsetting reaches half the height of the original blank, then perform the upsetting blank on the original axial eight-way cross-section, until the original blank is reached. length, the blank is forged and shaped along the axial direction so that the total forging ratio is 5.5 to obtain a rectangular forging, which is air-cooled to 340~360°C and then put into the furnace and kept for 120 minutes to cool to room temperature.
